Vehicles causing obstruction - Hartshead estate |
||
|
Good evening Resident,
Yesterday afternoon, PCSO Chadwick and I spent time on the Hartshead estate following several Facebook posts raising concerns about parking issues. We spoke with a number of residents about how their vehicles were parked and, where necessary, asked for cars to be moved.
We appreciate that, in some situations, parking partially on the pavement may feel unavoidable. However, it is not acceptable to fully block the pavement or leave so little space that a pedestrian, wheelchair user, or someone with a pram cannot pass safely. Our priority is always to educate and resolve issues informally before considering enforcement. That said, if the same vehicles are found obstructing the pavement again, a Traffic Offence Report will be issued. The team will continue to address any vehicles causing obstruction whenever we encounter them during our shifts.
We would also like to remind residents that posting photos or comments on Facebook does not count as reporting an issue to the police. We cannot take action on matters we are not officially made aware of. Greater Manchester Police officers and staff do not routinely monitor local Facebook groups, so concerns raised there may not be seen by officers at all. To report vehicles causing an obstruction, please use one of the following official channels: Reporting incidents through these channels provides accurate data about what is happening in the area. This information directly supports decisions around additional funding, overtime, and staffing levels.
Despite several posts online over the past week—some suggesting that police are not responding—our system shows no obstruction reports have been made to us. If you have reported an incident, please reply with the incident number so we can look into it.
If you witness parking that is causing a genuine obstruction, please report it through the proper channels so that an officer, or PCSO Chadwick and myself, can assess and deal with the matter appropriately.
Regards
